Branding & web design

The Challenge

Take an existing logo and develop a brand identity from that.

Learn Inbound is an annual inbound marketing event that takes place each summer and attracts dozens of industry experts, high profile speakers and thousands of attendees. They also have a smaller monthly pint-sized meetup.

Mark approached me a few years back to help give his event a unique brand identity design - one that was consistent, engaging and could help him compete with larger, more established conferences in the marketing sphere.

This new identity needed to be extremely versatile so that it could be used cohesively across all consumer touch points from printed marketing materials and promo items to their signage and web presence.

Creating a strong and memorable visual design identity communicates your unique value and helps grow a loyal customer base.

The Approach

The event was clearly growing and Mark needed a their branding to grow with it. While they had an existing logo and some promotional items in place before I got on board, they were very inconsistent and lacked a professional polish - which no doubt had a negative impact on client perceptions. The core of my approach to solving this issue was to bring it back to basics and start over. This began initially with developing a brand style guide.

Design can improve a user experience which in turn can increase traffic, attract leads and generate sales & revenue.

Consistency is key to memorable branding.

As Learn Inbound had built up some brand recognition with their existing logo, we decided it would be best to take what they had, tweak it, improve it and go from there. This meant defining the building blocks (typefaces, colour palettes, icons, shapes and templates) that were to be strictly adhered to going forward.

We extracted the diagonal shape from the logo mark and built upon that to create design elements that could be added to various items. This helped tie everything together and make the event more identifiable and memorable.

Other projects we've worked on over the years include event brochures, posters, flyers, advertisements, indoor + outdoor signage, stage backdrops, exhibition stands, flags, t-shirts, cards, lanyards, wristbands, certificates, presentations, social media graphics and the website among other things.

Their job is deliver your message to your audience. I'm happy to share that my work with Learn Inbound has helped grown their brand and resulted in more exposure, more attendees and moved the needle for their business.

Sheena has been a genuine pleasure to work with. Her design talent, insight and knowledge has not only helped with our branding and website, but also shaped our marketing strategy moving forward as well. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy and talented designer. Based on our analytics, we have seen a dramatic improvement in the conversion rate of key landing pages. Our events have grown from small evening meetups of 100 people to an annual two-day conference of 1,000+ which can be largely attributed to sheena's branding work. We couldn't be happier with how her designs have helped to grow over the past 5 years.
